Scabiosa atropurpurea 'Black Knight' has fully double, lightly scented pin cushion flower heads which are very dark midnight eggplant, almost black. Scabiosa makes excellent cut flowers because of their long vase life and this variety in particular is a florist favorite due to its haunting colour. Scabiosa Black Knight works great as a filler for borders.

It prefers in full sun and well-drained soil but can deal with some shade. Cut or deadhead blooms to prolong flowering or leave on so that the plant will self-seed. The birds also love scabiosa seeds!
